He said...

He said he loves me
And I asked him
do you love me or are you in love me?
Because there's a difference
He said... In
Because my mind stays on you all day
And like McDonalds you could have it your way
I put you before me because I see me in you
Our hearts became one
But use to be two
Our spirits attached at the word go
Your body is the only thing that can feel my flow
A day without you is like a day with no air
Finding you years ago was something truly rare
My mind believed the words streaming from his lips
At the sweet kisses attached to my soul
And the way he took his sips
This question
deliberation
situation
revealed truth

All in Together Girls Reading

On Tuesday, November 24, 2015 I read All in Together Girls to the children at Easter Seals Center and Southeast Ohio. These little kids were so adorable. I had the pleasure of reading my storybook to four groups of students, which consisted of about 10-20 students in each group. They were between the ages of 3-5 years old.

My favorite part of reading the book was when I talked with the kids about the book, the costumes of the characters, and if they had any questions. Their responses were classic, such as: their birthdays being in November, the characters being dressed up as pumpkins, and having a question, but not really having a question.

Children's Book Festival

Recently, ADC Kid and Hampton Publishing House submitted information to Ferry Avenue Branch Library to implement a Children's Book Festival in Camden, New Jersey. The request was accepted. With this being said, we are working on preparing a program/ad booklet for the event. This would give people and businesses an opportunity to support the literacy movement of encouraging children to read and connecting children with authors of the books they read.

If you or your business is interested in being listed in the program/ad booklet, please reply to this email.

Feel free to forward this information to other individuals who you think may also be interested in participating. All material included in the ad book will have to be child friendly material. Please refer the the flyer to your left.

Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Boss Event

Inspirational Quotes- Mrs. Bernard
This past Saturday, I attended the 2nd Annual, Think Like a Lady, Act Like A Boss Event in Jersey City, New Jersey. The event was held at Saint Peter's University by Alexandra Bernard, who is an entrepreneur, choreographer (The Evolution of Hip Hop), and motivational speaker. Mrs. Bernard was very insightful in providing helpful quotes, ways to get over misfortune, and my favorite, ways to turn negative situations into positive ones. She definitely had a heartfelt story to tell, which she shared with all of the individuals in the room. She empowered individuals on how to strive when things do not go as planned and making the most out of every situation.

While at the event, I had the opportunity to speak to one of the speakers one-on-one, Jessica Moss. Ms. Moss told me that she was going to speak to individuals about financial planning using a 401K plan, 403 B plan, and personal savings. She also was going to disuss school, colleges, credit scores, and other things that she would fit within a 30 minute presentation. Although 30 minutes was not long to speak about everything, She assured me that she was willing to meet with individuals on a one-on-one basis to discuss their financial planning initiatives and opportunities. What was amazing to Ms. Moss was that her degree was in Criminology, but her focus was financial planning. I am sure a lot of us can relate to going to school for one thing and then working in a career for something else. Definitely a story I can relate to and welcome. Our discussion also lead to entrepreneurs having to do numerous things to continue to grow, develop, and succeed.

Some of the other interesting and amazing people I talked with at the event were Juice Plus, Traci Lynn Jewelry, Blue Zaria, Leilo's Sweet Shop, and of course my author friend, Sonya Felice Jenkins. I purchased books, networked with vendors, and increased my drive on why I must succeed. Check out other pictures from the event below.

2nd Annual Independent Authors Book Expo

This past Saturday, I participated in the 2nd Annual Independent Authors Book Expo. The event was very well organized. The event coordinator, Renaee Smith, did a great job with developing the event and being very accommodating to the authors. Definitely an event that I would take part in the future.

At the event, I had an opportunity to discuss my books, perform a poem, network with authors, talk to guests, and read my children's book to the children at the event. The event was a family friendly event, so kids and people of all ages were welcomed. I smiled with joy as I got an opportunity to interact with the kids and adults at the event. It was great being around like individuals who also were determined to make a difference.

A memorable moment at the event was talking to Se'Quince Aikens. Se'Quince was an 18 year old author who was diagnosed with having cerebral palsy. I was moved by this young lady who was very jubilant. I just had to buy two of her books about life being a journey. I am sure my nieces in middle school and high school will enjoy their gift.

Much success to Se'Quince and the other authors at the event. Below, you will find other pictures from the event.

All in Together Girls Children Book Fun Shop

This past Friday I participated in an event developed by ADC Kid and Ferry Ave Branch Library. The event was a Children Book Fun Shop for individuals between the ages of 5 to 12. The fun shop was amazing. ADCKid is a "company dedicated to the advancement of empowering and enlightening though literacy, fitness, and animation.

Much of the company's strategic focus was displayed at the fun shop. The kids danced, listened, sang, drew, and socialized. The program even had teenagers and adults participating in the event. The children were so full of life and had no worries.

It was a delight working with ADC Kid. Stay tuned for future events that I will be attending.
